LightFactory

The LightFactory Logo: From Their 20 Year Celebration Advertising

LightFactory is not a factory that manufactures lights, contrary to the name. It is a program that can be installed on computers to allow them to control lights. This is very useful and allows small-scale venues to control their lights with cues, color pickers, effects, and multiple universes.

The LightFactory Color Picker

Having LightFactory is great because it allows venues like my school to have lights without needing to buy a console and train people on that console which is much harder than LightFactory. The interface is simple and mostly intuitive which makes training easy and setting cues is a very easy process. It has nice features like being able to press the “+” key to advance cues. It is also easy to set up lights and the program which makes it deployable almost anywhere.

I love LightFactory for many reasons. But the main reason I love LightFactory is that it can be implemented almost anywhere that has DMX-controlled lights. This allows small venues to mimic the lighting of large venues while not spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on lighting. A LightFactory license costs as low as $99 per year. With a cost this low a large venue could use LightFactory as a backup or as a controller for their house or lobby lights. This sets LightFactory apart from the rest of the lighting consoles and allows it to be used much more widely.
